Clan Anderson of that Ilk, and Sterheuch, Scotland; Because of the popularity of the name in Scotland, very little can be proved to find a common ancestor before the 16th century. James Anderson, was recorded as a Privy Councillor to James V, 2nd April 1526. Cadets of Sterheuch are Anderson of Westerton, (Wester-) Ardbrake and Gracedieu; Anderson of Kinneddar; Anderson of Newbiggin and Kingask, Anderson of Dowhill; Anderson of Stobcross; Anderson of Inchyra and St. Germain; Anderson of Kinkwood; Anderson of Bourtie; Seton-Anderson of Mounie; and Anderson of Candacraig.
