Clan Blair of that Ilk, Scotland; of Norman descent, the family first received lands in Ayrshire in 1205. William de Blar witnessed the signing of a charter by King Alexander III to Dunfermline Abbey. Sir Bryce Blair of Blair was executed by the English at Ayr in 1296, and his nephew fought with Robert the Bruce at Bannockburn in 1314. The heiress Madeleine Blair of Blair married William Scot, 2nd son of John Scot of Malleny, who changed his name to Blair. Also settled in County Antrim, Ireland in the 17th century.
Arms: Argent, on a saltire sable, nine mascles of the first.
Crest: A stag lodged proper.
