McCorquodale
Clan McCorquodale of Loch Aweside, Scotland; descended by tradition from Thorkill, a commander under Kenneth mac Alpin, first King of Scotland, who was rewarded with lands in 834 for recovering the severed head of Alpin, father of Kenneth, from the Pictish camp. The first recorded charter was for lands at Maintelan, to Ewan, son of Ewan Makcorquydill in 1434. In 1612, the clan were outlawed by the Privy Council for following Clan Macgregor.
Arms: Argent, a demi stag rampant gules, attired or and issuing from a fesses wreathed of the second and third.
Crest: A stag at gaze proper, attired gules.
Motto: Vivat rex (Long live the King).
