Clan Craig of that ilk and Riccarton, Scotland; the name comes from the Scottish word for a rocky cliff, and it is impossible to trace the lineage beyond the 15th century. The Craigs of Riccarton were descended from Sir Thomas Craig, a most eminent lawyer and companion of James VI of Scotland and I of England. The Irish branch of the family descended from Sir James Craig who settled in Ulster in 1610.
Arms: Ermine, on a fesse sable three crescents argent.
Crest: A chevalier on horseback, his broken spear in bend all proper.
Motto: Vive Deo et vives (Live for God and you shall have life) or J'ai bon esperance
